The B. F. A. W. U. Credit Union was founded in 1997 and officially launched in 1998 at our Annual Conference. It is a savings and loans co-operative run by the members of our Union for the members of our Union, offering loans at rates that are more than competitive, whilst paying excellent dividends on all savings.

The Credit Union gives our members the opportunity to have control of their finances and to make sure that their savings work for them because it encourages a savings culture.

The Credit Union exists to serve our members not to profit from them. It is a non-sectarian and non-political, and does not pay salaries to its directors or committees.

Every member who joins the Credit Union becomes a shareholder and has an equal say in its running. As a democratic, financial co-operative, it is controlled by its members.

1. After the second year of membership, members may apply for loans of up to £3,000, including the shares that they hold.

2. All members are required to repay 100% of the existing loan before making an application for a further loan.
