Right to return to the same job after 26weeks ordinary maternity leave. Right to return to an appropriate similar job if it is not reasonable practicable to return to your own job after additional maternity leave.

Earliest you can take maternity leave is 11 weeks before expected birth date as given by GP or midwife. Calculated by counting back 11 weeks from the Sunday before expected birth date.
Maternity leave might start automatically if you have your baby before the planned date of starting maternity leave. Starts the day after the birth. You must inform your employer as soon as is reasonably practicable.
You can work right up to the birth date if you wish, but the choice is yours.
Once you have informed your employer of the date your maternity leave will start, they should give you notice of what date it will end.
Continuous Contract of Employment benefits except for pay during your leave.
