We have a long standing recognition agreement with the company and the union meets with them regularly at different levels:

National meetings:

Pay Talks

We here at Warburtons do national pay talks with the company with this happening on an annual occurrence dependant on the length of the deals we do, the bakeries will send there branch secretary from each site who are also responsible for their own depos, are National president heads up these talks with the national co-ordinator and all the branch secretaries taking a full part in these talks.

National health and safety meeting

Warburtons and the BFAWU have national meetings on health and safety three times a year this is run from the union by the national co-ordinator and four of the branch secretaries from site which have been elected by the other branch secretaries to attend this meeting this is a joint agenda at these meetings.

Warehouse forum

Warburtons and the BFAWU have national meetings on warehouse three times a year and is run the same as the above.

Warburtons Policy discussion group

Warburtons and the BFAWU have a policies discussion group that meets regularly to discuss and changes to legislation and to company needs around new policies and existing policies, this meeting is run by the national co-ordinator and four branch secretaries from different sites across Warburtons.

National shop stewards’ meetings

The BFAWU has two shop stewards meeting where the national president, national co-ordinator and all the branch secretaries and shop stewards from all the sites are present to discuss current issues and upcoming changes and potential pay talks over the course of the year.

Branch sectaries meetings.

The BFAWU Branch secretaries meet three times a year which is chaired by the national co-ordinator to discuss on going issues around their sites and any upcoming national meeting and feed back to each other from the different working groups they take part on.

Regional meeting

BFAWU runs shop stewards in house training days these are run by the National co-ordinator on a monthly basis one is done in the north, and one is done in the south, these are full day we spend going though everything a shop steward will need to be a success in Warburtons. This is also a great way to build a network for all the branch secretaries and shop stewards to work together more going forward
